Main Purpose:

This position will evaluate the economics of downstream oil and gas assets, provide actionable insights for trading and investment strategies, and leverage technical expertise to enhance our trading operations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in technical or economic role in downstream oil and gas
  • Experience modelling and reporting on economics of downstream oil and gas assets and infrastructure
  • Experience on-site at a downstream asset
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the European refining sector in order to make value assessments of potential investment targets
  • Strong analytics and coding capabilities required (experience in data manipulation)
  • Proficiency in SQL, competence in Python
  • Experience producing and delivering high quality presentations of technical refining and economic data
  • Proficiency in compiling appropriate data, including forward curves and cash differentials, for investment evaluation purposes

Key Responsibilities

Economic and Technical Analysis:

  • Develop models to assess the economics of refining and downstream oil and gas assets.
  • Provide comprehensive evaluations of refining infrastructure and identify value-driving opportunities for trading and investment.

Market Insights and Sector Expertise:

  • Leverage deep understanding of the European refining sector to assess market conditions, competitive dynamics, and investment targets.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in refining margins, forward curves, and cash differentials to support strategic decision-making.

Data Management and Analytics:

  • Compile and manipulate large datasets using SQL and Python to generate actionable insights for trading operations.
  • Maintain and enhance databases and tools for economic evaluation and market analysis.

On-Site and Operational Insights:

  • Utilize on-site refining experience to provide operational insights into asset performance, constraints, and optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with traders and other stakeholders to align technical findings with commercial objectives.

Presentation and Communication:

  • Create and deliver high-quality presentations of refining and economic data to internal teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical and economic analysis into clear and concise recommendations for trading and investment strategies.
